Marking grand finale of
3-days Prasanthi Christmas 56 children, as part of International
Children’s Choir, serenaded The Holy Father and His Chosen Son this
evening here in Prasanthi Nilayam.
Earlier, this evening’s programme commenced at 1700 hrs. with a thanksgiving speech by Christmas Committee Chairman Mr Joh Behner from the US. Thanking his Christmas team mates for their all-round cooperation in making Christmas 2013 a glittering one, Behner had special praise for the Sevadals, the decorators from Australia, The Western Canteen and the Indonesians who helped serving chosen dishes, the Choir teams etc. Moving into the legacy of Christmas, Mr Behner spoke about Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa’s life of realisation through various paths including Christianity. Touching upon Bhagwan’s indication of Golden Age, Mr Behner reminded the audience of the great time we have now and ahead in future with our chosen Lord Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai.
The International Children’s Choir, ably conducted by graceful Alma Badings from the Netherlands, began in typical Indian style with Ganesh Gayathri, Sai Gayathri followed by “Twameva Mata…”. Beginning with a Telugu Greeetings on the occasion of Christmas and New Year the children sang an assortment of many songs that included… It’s Christmas Time…, Joy To The World…, Singing All Together…, Beloved Sai My Soul Always Longing…, Mother Mary Had A Baby Boy…, Can You Hear The Sound Of The African Drum…, Bambelela Bambelela… to end with We Wish You A Merry Christmas…. Violinists played tilting tunes as an intermission spicing up the show followed by the lifting tune of the African Drum beats to the song “Can You Hear The Sound Of The African Drum…” Bambelela, meaning, never give up, was another catchy number that tells all to hold on to Jesus…never give up… The final number was a collective wishing of Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, offering gratitude to The Lord, wishing happiness to one and all. These beautiful children in pristine white with golden scarves ended their singing in an assertive tone, asserting their faith in His Supremacy, singing, He’s got the whole world in His hands…
Even as bhajans continued children posed for group photo session before being felicitated with special gifts. Bhajans ended with Thursday Special “Love Is My Form…Truth Is My Breath…” in Bhagawan’s celestial voice. Mangala Arathi at 1830 hrs. marked the end of Christmas 2013. Glittering Christmas Evening…
|
|||||
A drama presentation by
International Sai children from Region 8, Southern California, USA,
two speeches and Bhagawan’s Divine discourse featured the Holy
Christmas evening here in Prasanthi Nilayam today. The programme commenced at 1650 hrs., after 20 mts. of Rudram chanting, with a drama presentation entled ‘The Fourth Wise Man’. The drama was a depiction based on the story of Henry Van Dyke entitled ‘The Other Wise Man’.
Presenting two parallel stories the drama attempted to portray that one could reach one’s life’s goal of Divine Darshan, despite facing all oddities.
Daryush, an Iranian devotee, whose maiden visit to Prasanthi Nilayam to have Bhagawan’s Darshan was left disappointed as he came to know of Bhagawan’s departure from earthly sphere. Disappointed at his misfortune, despising him of being undeserved, Daryush was lost and out. Fr Francis, a kind and noble soul, had a chance meeting with Daryush in the Overseas Canteen and thus turned himself to bail the young man out of his trouble by narrating the story of the ‘Fourth Wise Man’ at the time of Holy Birth Of Jesus.
Arteban is a Magi, a wise and learned man, a Zoroastrian of ancient Persia, who has seen the signs in the heavens that point to the Advent of a Divine Being. Felt inquisitive, with unquenching thirst to have the Divine Darshan, Arteban soon sets out to cross the desert of Judea along with three good friends who have also seen the auspicious signs.
Rushing to catch up with his friends near faraway Banylon, Arteban faces hurdles in his onward journey as, with one after one, hapless and needy turn up to him seeking intererence in healing. Serving thus, without finding his ‘Destination’ Arteban thus continously travels in search of the Divine Being for long thirty-three years. At the end, he reaches Jerusalem wherein, through a chance meeting with someone, he comes to know that nearby that place in Jerusalem a Holy Man who claims to be the Son Of God is going to be crucified soon. Perplexed at the turn of events, even as he kneels down in sincere tearful prayers, Arteban hears the ethereal voice of Jesus, who called him out granting him darshan from the heavens. It was Jesus after his crucifixion.
God, be Him in form or formless always runs after His devotees and at the right time, at the right place He grants him his choices wish, Divine Darshan!
The drama presentation was followed by two inspiriting speeches. Ms Rita Daniel from the US, who spoke first chose to speak of her illustrious journey unto God that ended up with finding Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai as her Master! Beginning life with rational questions as to Why? and Why God? Rita was drawn to the folds of Bhagawan at the age of 15 years. Having had her maiden darshan at Brindavan, Whitefield, Rita’s life was changed as Bhagawan has been her continuous inspiration, directly eversince, guiding her both in her personal and professional life. Closely associtated with the Sri Sathya Sai Book Centre Of America, Rita is a Science teacher by profession.
Tom Lahoy from Australia was the next speaker. A long time devotee who has been into the International Christmas committee for over a decade, Tom narrated a long Australian Story that found him finally at Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet. Tom’s inspiring speech was sprinkled with the teachings of Bhagawan and Jesus Christ.
Interestingly, after the first speech, Mr Robert Daniel from the US who had the privilege of introducing the evneing programme to the august audience, chose to introduce himself as the husband of the Rita Daniel, the first speaker. Rita in her speech made references about her husband, briefing the miraculous story of their marriage as orchestrated by Bhagawan through a dream. Narrating the stoty in his witty, humorous style, Robert called it ‘his first experience of surrender’, the proposal by Rita to marry him as per Bhagawan’s Dream instructions.
Bhagawan’s Divine discourse followed next. Man is a combination of the trinity, Morality, Righteousness and Spirituality; Man without Truth and Righteousness is no man and man without Love is no man, said Bhagawan stressing on the need to grow from Vyashti, Individual, to Samashti, Community, to grow further into Paremeshti…Divinity, bringing parallels from the Three Wise Men story at the time of the Holy Birth Of Jesus Christ. Bhagawan concluded His Divine discourse with the bhajan “Bhajana Binaa Sukha Shanthi Nahin…”.
All the children partipants were felicitated; bhajans continued and ended with Mangala Arathi at 1840 hrs. Three day Christmas celebrations would conclude tomorrow with International Children Choir. II Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu II

Merry Christmas in Prasanthi…
|
|||||
When Christmas becomes a
big time celebration around the world, often marked with pomp and
show, meeting, eating and shopping much away from the decrees of
Jesus Christ, Prasanthi Nilayam stands uniquely apart celebrating
the event in the holiest way.
After the International Choir on the Christmas Eve, when the Christmas morning dawned here in Prasanthi to its solemn beauty, the Australians took the charge in the ‘day-break’ with Carol singing beginning the proceedings in the morning.
Christmas always had its fairy-tale in the golden past with Bhagawan lightng up the day-break with His silver door darshan, atop the Sai Kulwant balcony. Memories remained poignant with a touch of nostalgia as the Carol party took their seat at the Sanctum Sanctorum in this auspicious morning singing carol hymns for over half-an-hour. The Carol party was ably led by a dynamic young Shiva, who conducted the show.
Following the day-break offering, in the morning, it was the turn of the students, who with a sprinkling of Christmas hymns and stories made the morning most memorable one. Commencing at 0820 hrs., after Rudram chanting, first to come was an offerng by the Violin Band of Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School that played some melodious Christmas tunes including “Love Is My Form…Truth Is My Breath”.
Lifting the spirits from the slow soothing violin to the fast paced beats of percussions, the Institute Brass Band presented a scintillating display of Band Music next, playing an array of special Christmas numbers. The Brass Band from Prasanthi Nilayam Campus has always been an integral part of the Christmas celebrations and this year too they excelled with high beat music reverberating the spacious Sai Kulwant.
From instrumental to vocal. Serenading the Mighty Heavenly Father and His Chosen Son…singing greater glory, the Institute Music Band presented a 45 minute programme next, depicting the life of Jesus through songs and commentary, beginning with his birth, traversing through his epochal life of events, teachings andhis ultimate sacrifice. Some of the songs were We Wish You A Merry Christmas…, Glory To The Lord…, Santa’s Party etc. Excitement ran high when Santa began his party, twin Santas in twin directions delivering chocolates to the lucky ones, to the backdrop high-pitch singing of Jingle Bells…Jingle Bells…Jingle All The Way... The musical band ended their ‘party’ aptly singing the glory of Father and Son and the greater importance of following the life of Jesus, practising his teachings.
Even as bhajans continued, students, both juniors and seniors took their turn offering Christmas Greetings at Bhagawan’s Divine Lotus Feet.
Mangala Arathi at 0950 hrs. marked the end of morning proceedings. II Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu II

Lighting up the
Christmas Eve, setting in motion Prasanthi Christmas 2013,
choristers from all over the globe joined in unison singing
‘Hallelujah’ at Beloved Bhagawan this evening here in Prasanthi
Nilayam.
Yes, it’s western time again here in Prasanthi Nilayam. No folks, no Country and Western but Western Carols for Christmas. It’s the time of the blessed birth of the Baby Jesus, commemorating the Advent Of The Son Of God and it means a lot for Westerners… and they do get a chance to strut their stuff for their Beloved Bhagawan.
The programme in this beautiful Christmas Eve commenced in typical Indian style, with the auspicious lighting of the lamp, this time lighting the Christmas Candle, mounted in front of the Sanctum Sanctorum. International Christmas Committee Coordinator John Behner from the US along with his predecessor Arthur Hilcoat along with International Christmas Decorations Committee Director Tom Lehoy took the privilege of doing the same in Bhagawan’s Divine Presence.
What followed next was an hour-long devotional offering, raising the spirits up, sinking thousands of hearts in the hall in sublime joy, engulfing the whole of Prasanthi in Love and Peace. The Western Choir had in its repertoire for the evening an offering 18 hymns – including, How Great & Hark The Herald of Mozart, Lord Make Us Carry The Light etc. To make sure that they are in harmony with their host country – Blessed Bharat – the Choir had an invocatory incantation on Lord Ganesha, Sri Ganesha Pancharatna Strotram.
In the evening soon after the candle-lighting ceremony, an all-white-team of men and women choristers, with many women in white flower headband, burst into spells of singing following finger ‘baton’ instructions of the conductor Ms Gisela Sebastian from Germany singing a unique ’18 hymns’. The choristers were accompanied by seasoned ‘musicians’ from various countries, who have been continuously perfecting their skills for the past over ten days.
Beginning with the Ganesha Pancharatna Strotram the choir continued with How Great & Hark The Herald, Hark The Herald Angels Sing, God Gave Me A Song, I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day, Hallelujah…Hallelujah, Lord’s Prayer, My Shepherd, As The Deer… Sai You Are, I Give Myself Away, Hallelujah To The Lord, Silent Night, Someday At Christmas, Lord Make Us Carry The Light, O Tu Rex Gloriae Hallelujah, Blessed The Lord, Oh Dearest Lord Sai Baba, Ave Maria & O Holy Night, Sathya Sai, You Are My Life to end with May All Be Happy… This final song was special for it had an insertion of Musical Piece and a Divine Discourse by Beloved Bhagawan, with Bhagawan assuring His ‘overseas’ children of His eternal blessings…The song insertion was Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah…
With very days of hard work, braving the Indian winter, these choristers had familiarized themselves with 18 new musical pieces – most of them in English – and many of the devotees do not have English as their first language. In addition, there were scores of musicians and to add a final twist of complexity to this ambitious undertaking, most of the people involved were not professional singers or musicians. They do it, for their Swami…with Swami working through them.
Tomorrow, in the Holy Christmas morning, devotees from Australia would be presenting Christmas Carols in the morning at 0615 hrs. that would be followed by Christmas morning programme at 0820 hrs.
Merry Christmas!!!

The epochal advent of the son of God, happened over two millennia
ago, is undoubtedly the grandest of all celebrations on planet Earth today,
celebrated on a mass global scale. This is one occasion when humanity join hands
thanking the Heavenly Father for His ultimate benevolence in sending His son,
Jesus.
Unlike the world-wide celebrations, Prasanthi Nilayam celebrates the occasion in most solemn, unique style singing with men and women from different nations and races assemble under one roof singing Hallelujah, Praise The Lord!
With a mini united nations camping in Prasanthi for the occasion, today, when the D-day revisited yet again, Prasanthi woke up with a festive spirit reminiscing the nostalgic golden memoirs of many a Christmas celebrations in the past.
The programme for the morning began at 0630 hrs. with a group of 120 choristers from New Zealand taking the honours of singing Carols singing in praise of The Lord. Conducted by young and energetic Kolithi, the choir had 11 songs, in different languages. Some of the songs were Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, O Come All Ye Faithful, Joy to the World.
When the session continued again at 0830 hrs. there were an array of programmes, Band, Music and Songs with little Santas popping out in between throwing chocolates all over making merry.
Violin Band from the Higher Secondary played some soulful tunes before the Brass Band from the Institute took over playing some lilting tunes. Wishing one and all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year students from the Institute continued the session with We Wish You A Merry Christmas followed by an array of songs that included Shout To The North. River Of Love… etc.The programme had interludes of commentary narrating the greater significance of Christmas, in the form of a conversation between a grandfather and grandson.
Little Santas popped up from nowhere with chocolate bags and balloons making merry all over distributing chocolates. Bhajans continued for sometime and ended with Bhagawan singing Sathyam Jnaanam Anantham Brahma… Mangala Arathi was offered at 10:00 hrs. II Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu II |

However the biggest treat was the beginning and ending of the ten song programme which were sung in the Divine Language of the Avatar, Telugu.
After the Music Programme, as encouraged by Bhagawan in previous years, they also sung Bhajans. Clothes were distributed to all the participants and Prasadam was shared with the assembly on this sweet occasion. “Christmas is coming to town…”

Over one hundred and eighty devotees from the South European countries Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina arrived early in the Christmas season for they have been given the unique privilege of decorating Mandir and the rest of Prasanthi Nilayam this year. Along with that they also had the yearning to sing and cry out their feelings to Bhagawan. The opportunity was gained by them on the 20th of Dec 2011.
The above mentioned countries speak different languages (they can understand each other, but the languages are similar and not same). They had the herculean task of balancing their time between decorating Prasanthi Nilayam and having rehearsals together in order to learn the songs well. By Bhagawan’s grace, help had come under the loving and expert guiding hand of their Choir conductor Uma Devi. They held rehearsals in the EHV block (popularly know as the double decker building) in the previous few days from 5.00-7.00am.
The countries also have different religious and cultural backgrounds. So the songs express devotional feelings and attitudes with a stress on the Destination which is common for all the paths. . A scintillating combination of wind, string, keyboard and percussions made for a divine rendition of songs in praise of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. While many of the items were lively and foot-tapping, the multifarious gathering was also entertained with sweet, sinusoidal, lilting sounds with deep messages.
With the expansive vision to make their brothers and sisters from India also feel included, they sang two songs in Telugu and Hindi: Kapadu Sai Devuda and Hamko Tumse Pyare Kitna.
After the Music Programme, as encouraged by Bhagawan in previous years, they also sung Bhajans. Clothes were distributed to all the participants and Prasadam was shared with the assembly on this sweet occasion. |

Fri, Dec 24, 2010: Today is Christmas Eve, the night before Christmas, the night that heralded the Advent of Jesus Christ. For those seekers of Jesus, those seekers of Truth who knows "Sathya", this is the occasion to rejoice 'the advent'; for them who are missing the action, physically in Prasanthi, it will be difficult to fill the void of not being in Prasanthi and it is time for sheer nostalgia! Christmas Eve in Prasanthi Nilayam is distinctive over the years with a unique choir comprising representation of 'United Nations' singing His glory in presence of The One Who could be called the 'Creator' or 'Originator' of Christmas. The Overseas Choir has been a part of the Christmas celebrations for over a decade ever since Bhagawan given the mantle to a former US School Teacher by name Sylvia Alden to conduct the show.
Dressed up in pristine white, over 750 choristers, 216 gents and 556 ladies, with over fifty musicians among them, had occupied the centre-block of the Mandir well in advance of the commencement of the proceedings in the scheduled evening. An early entry and Bhagawan was in the midst at 1800 hrs., arrived in His car. Moving on, blessing the concourse, Bhagawan was seen tossing Vibhuti packets to devotees at random. Coming on to the dais Bhagawan blessed some of the seniors from the Christmas group, including John Behner, with Vibhuti prasadam. Bhajans continued until 1830 hrs. when Bhagawan blessed John Behner before lighting the lamp officially inaugurating the programme. The Choir Conductor Sylvia Alden turned up on stage and after a few minutes of interaction, Bhagawan 'green-signalled' the Conductor to commence the Choir. Three perfect Omkars from over 750 western choristers followed by Ganesha invocation, "Ganaanaam Twa..." and the Choir was on! Bhagawan sat through listening to the choristers singing the glory of the Lord and after forty minutes, with the 12th hymn completed, Bhagawan asked for Mangala Arathi. Blessed Prasadam was distributed in between and post Arathi, in a most unexpected move, Bhagawan moved down the aisle posing for photographs with the group. The Choristers were ecstatic as Bhagawan allowed them to converge in a semi-circle around Him, being the centre-point, and hundreds of faces were beaming the joy of being in close proximity. At 1920 hrs. Bhagawan got into His car retiring to Yajur Mandiram. |

Sat, Dec 25, 2010: In Parthi every event and every festivity is defined with Bhagawan being the centre-point. 'His Presence' is the big thing and every festivity gets its due importance only when He makes Himself available for the occasion. Following the Christmas Eve when the Christmas day dawned the focus of attention was unto Him and His presence. In the evening there was high expectation in the air and Sai Kulwant was ready with festive exuberance to receive the Lord! Apart from the official Christmas 2010 schedule by SSSSO, Overseas, an Italian Orchestra was also scheduled for the eventful evening. In the Sai Kulwant Hall, every inch of available space was packed with devotees. Leading to the schedule, bhajans played soulful tunes clocking to the "Divine Hour". At 650 hrs. the Divine Carrier, Toyota Porte AP02N9000 appeared at the entrance, carrying The Lord clad in yellow. First round of darshan was followed by another 'bonus' round and the surge of devotees was ecstatic. Many who missed His 'catchy' glance in the first round ensured one in the second round. Primary School children were up on their feet, holding aloft their Christmas Greetings, trying to win Divine attention. Coming on to the Verandah through the western slope at the gents' side, Bhagawan, upon alighting, went for a round of upper verandah and was seen blessing many, tossing Vibhuti packets. Soon Bhagawan blessed an array of Christmas cakes before coming on to the dais at 1920 hrs. Evening proceedings began with International Christmas Committee Chairman John Behner addressing the assembly. Thanking Bhagawan for His bounteous love, offering Christmas greetings to one and all, Behner introduced the two speakers for the evening. The speakers were Kirsten Pruzan, a Danish Journalist and Cass Smith, a musician and spiritual healer from the US. Ms. Pruznan spoke gracefully, sharing her personal experience of the 'Divine Pull' that brought her to Parthi for the first time. Elaborating on the omnipresence shown by Swami at her Danish home, she narrated a wonderful experience wherein her husband, Prof. Pruznan, was saved by Bhagawan, from being taken as a hostage after Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990, while returning from Parthi. Cass Smith spoke of His Love quoting Samuel Sandweiss from his famous book, Sai Baba, The Holy Man and Psychiatrist. A musician by himself, Smith strummed his guitar to produce three gems of musical pieces, concluding with the popular song, "I keep feeling your love...". He also narrated a wonderful experience, that happened at Brindavan, sharing how Bhagawan miraculously cured him of an 'ear-mishap'. A "Christmas in Sai Love" was the theme for the concert by a group of Italians led by Sonja Venturi along with Sergio Vigagni, Evige Fontana, Dalliah Gutman, Bruno Pratico etc. and a set of musical scorers. As they took over after receiving Divine Blessings, music flowed with bhajans tuned in western style echoing the Sai Kulwant Hall. Beginning with thee Omkars, salutations to Lord Ganesha and Twameva Matha, Sonja Venturi produced a scintillating Mukunda Murari, styled in west, to the amusement of Bhagawan and the capacity audience. Audience clapped after every song as the Italians went on singing for the next fifty minutes. A beethoven medley, a couple of italian numbers, White Christmas etc. were followed by a combined song, Happy X Mas as grand finale. The whole programme was organised by senior Italian devotees Luigi Ferrante and Anna Bruno. Post the musical session, Bhagawan called the singers and musicians one after one on stage, showering blessings. A second round of blessing ensued when the four ladies in the group were again called on stage, one after one, to receive prasadam from the Divine Hands. A group of tiny tots also came on stage receiving prasadam from the Divine Hands. In the meanwhile, Prasadam went for distribution to the audience. As Bhagawan sat through, one of the ashram photographers went up to Bhagawan showing Him Christmas decorations in print. Being the Senior Hostel Anniversary, a group of students from the Senior Hostel also went up to Bhagawan showing Him images of the 'decorated hostel'. Mangala Arathi was offered at 2120 hrs. and Bhagawan retired to Yajur Mandiram at 2130 hrs. |

Sun, Dec 26, 2010: International Children gave a 'biblical welcome' to Bhagawan this evening, at 1910 hrs. leading Him in a procession to the Sai Kulwant Hall. Children in colourful costumes, representing various biblical characters, led the procession to the accompaniment of soft tunes of traditional Christmas songs.
Coming on stage at 1930 hrs. Bhagawan sat on for next forty five minutes. Most of the time Bhagawan was busy with the "day's mail" from devotees while bhajans went on in the background. At 1955 hrs. Bhagawan accepted Mangala Arathi and continued with 'devotees' mail' for some more time, till 2015 hrs. when Bhagawan left the dais, leaving for Yajur Mandiram.

Mon, Dec 27, 2010: The grand finale of the three day Christmas celebrations witnessed little children from around the world taking the centre-stage singing and enacting the glory of Jesus and Sathya Sai. When two programmes, an International Children Choir and a Musical Play, that were scheduled for the previous evening got postponed as ‘willed’ by Bhagawan, this 'fresh-week' evening found a ‘combined programme’ setting a grand finale for the Christmas 2010 celebrations. Bhagawan arrived just after 1820 hrs. and the hall was full. Covering the ladies' end Bhagawan's car took a detour moving out, only to return after ninety minutes. Coming on stage, initial blessings followed before the commencement of the programme. John Behner, International Christmas Committee Coordinator along with Alma Badings, the Choir Conductor from the Netherlands and the Drama Director Victoria Hargreaves from the US took blessings.
Soon Bhagawan moved down the dais to pose with the children. Coming on stage, Bhagawan accepted Mangala Arathi. "Samastha Lokaaha..." was repeated yet again for a second time at His special instance and blessing the concourse Bhagawan left the dais, retiring to Yajur Mandiram just after 2100 hrs. Prasadam was distributed to the entire audience. Earlier in the morning, as part of the Christmas celebrations, a Multi-Faith Worship Programme was organised at the double decker building, next to the Book Centre. Titled as "We Are One", the programme had representation from all major religions, namely, Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism and Zoroastrianism etc. Presided over by Fr. Charles Ogada of Nigeria, donning the mantle of Master of Ceremonies, the programme that had good turnout of devotees had light meditation session, Universal Prayer, Holy Communion and Prasad distribution.
