Drama by Bhagawan's Students on the
Occasion of the 68th Independence Day of India - 15 Aug 2014 Video |
|||||||
15 Aug 2014, Prasanthi Nilayam: As in the past Prasanthi Nilayam
joined the rest of the nation in heralding the 68th Independence Day. 67 years
into Independence, into the 68th year where does our country ‘Bharat’
stand… has ‘she’ gone forward…or moved backward? 68 years before, the country
was fighting with the British for freedom and now our country is marred with
infightings within… It was
with this bare statement that the postgraduate students of Sri Sathya Sai
Institute of Higher Learning, Prasanthi Nilayam campus began their Independence
Day Drama last evening here in Prasanthi Nilayam, on the occasion of national
Independence Day.
The drama, as the name suggests Badlenge Hum…Badlenge Vatan… meaning ‘We Will Change and The Country Will Change’ was a befitting offering for a nation that is repository of great cultural and spiritual values on her national independence day, 15 August. The presentation highlighted how two cardinal values, Truth and Righteousness strung together played a vital ‘chord’ in the National development saga.
The presentation revolved around the life of a simple tea-seller in a typical Indian village. Kaka, as he was fondly called, who owned a shop – Bharat Tea & Tiffins – was a man of integrity, with a large heart. He would always dream of a United India, and would often lament about the society around him, filled with men who are happy-go-lucky type. Kaka’s simple yet happy life turned into a terrible nightmare suddenly, when his school going son was detected with serious neuro disorder. Requiring urgent medical attention, Kaka moved from hospitals to hospitals only to remain hapless for want of unaffordable huge sum.
Depressed at his fate Kaka was inconsolable, yet never wanted to share his plight with any of his regular ‘long-time’ customers, who are ‘self-centred’. Upon repeated requests, when Kaka was forced to let the cat out of his bag, the story took the unusual ‘dramatic’ turn. Good men around him grouped together, decided to take the lead, foregoing their trivial personal matters, to bring light into Kaka’s ‘darkened’ days. The drama also exposed the marred society today that runs after money, foregoing values in life. Jeevandaan Hospital, the hospital where the boy was taken for admission, turned out to be the ‘villain’ in the drama, flatly refusing to admit the boy for want of money, flouting all norms, rules, regulations and ethics. When a group a men came forward foregoing their selfish pursuits to help the man in dire need, it helped opening the eyes of the selfish society around, bringing in transformation at individual and societal levels.
Man should find his innate human nature first, and from Humanity he should travel to Unity… and with Unity one can bring radical change, changing the course of the nation…was the essential message of the beautiful Independence Day presentation. The tea-seller’s story of Unity was a pointer highlighting the great Indian story of Independence, achieved only with Unity. The presentation ended with the spirit of Independence making a final appearance offering salutations at Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet. The presentation also featured a beautiful video presentation by Radio Sai Global Harmony on Bhagawan, connecting Him with Bharat’s great Independence Story. Bhajans continued and ended with Mangala Arathi at 1825 hrs. II Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu II |
