This evening, Swami went into the interview room
after His evening darshan, but came out at around 4.10 and walked around
the Verandah for a few minutes. He entered the Bhajan Hall through the
rear door, walked up the aisle talking to many people on the way, and
returned to the interview room. Bhajans were as usual at 5 pm.

Prasanthi Nilayam has once again quietened down after the Birthday
celebrations. Bhagawan visited the Indoor Stadium once again on Sunday
morning. Darshan and Bhajan sessions go on as usual. The Department of
Physics at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning is hosting a
conference on Nanostructured Materials from the 29th of November to the
1st of December - the Chemistry department is also actively participating.
The students of the Brindavan campus are participating via
teleconferencing from the Multimedia Learning Centre inaugurated by
Bhagawan earlier this year.
This evening, after Bhagawan came for darshan, He
enquired about "the drama" from Dr. Michael Goldstein, the Prasanthi
Council chairman. The Italian group had been told that their drama would
not be staged today, so now that Swami had asked for it, they had to rush
to dress up and assemble in the Sai Kulwant Hall.
At 5.15, Bhagawan came out of the interview room, and five
minutes later, the Italian group started their presentation in which some
Argentinean devotees also participated. The 40 minute presentation was on
Dante's La Divine Comedia, with a voice-over of the English translation of
selected extracts. The participants did an admirable job of presenting the
abstract themes with expressive gestures. At the end of the programme,
Bhagawan gave some of the members chocolates, and then asked for the rest
of the chocolates to be distributed. As prasadam was being distributed,
Bhagawan retired for the day with Arati. Photos &

This morning, Bhagawan did not come for darshan. In
this evening, the Sai
Symphony Orchestra presented the 81st Birthday Concert. The programme was
presented by 45 musicians from 16 countries. Just like for Gurupoornima,
Klaus Maurer conducted and Paul Erhard introduced each piece.
Beginning with a Ganesha bhajan, the Symphony moved on to Tchaikovsky and
then played pieces by Haydn, Strauss, Beethoven, Verdi and others,
including some where the guitar featured prominently. Bhagawan asked for
prasadam to be distributed after the hour-long concert. Coming down from
the stage, He had a photo session with the performers before He retired
after Arati.

T
he Mandir was filled by devotees from very early in the morning.
Thousands of devotees who were not able to enter the hall packed all the
approach roads. The Mandir verandah was lined with birthday cakes of
different sizes and designs.
At 8.10 am the procession began from Bhagawan's residence - the Anantapur
girls' band, the primary school girls' bagpipes, primary school boys
chanting vedam, primary school boys' recorders and drums, the Institute
band and finally the Vedam group with Poorna Kumbham leading in Bhagawan,
dressed in a white robe, in His special Lamborghini open vehicle. After a
full round of the hall, Bhagawan reached the Mandir verandah and was
greeted by President Abdul Kalam there. At 8.30, Bhagawan sat onstage with
the President beside Him. Swami indicated that the President could address
the gathering. Dr. Kalam greeted everyone on Bhagawan's 81st Birthday, and
presented the Telugu translation of a poem written by him to be read out
by Prof. Anil Kumar.
Earth shining in Glory
Our Milky Way is shining, with millions and millions of stars.
Our beloved star Sun, along with eight other planets around.
Orbits the Milky Way, finishes one orbit in two hundred and fifty million
years.
Somewhere in the galaxy, echoed a voice in surprise. "See there the Earth
shining in glory: how come it got its light?"
A sweet and soft reply comes:
"It is not the mere light, It is the light of knowledge, It is the light
of service, It is the light of peace.
Specially radiating from Prasanthi Nilayalam When Earth completes its
eightieth orbit Carrying a great soul in its bosom"
After the reading, President Kalam took his
leave. The function continued, with All India Sai Organisations President
Sri. V. Srinivasan praying for Bhagawan's Birthday message. Bhagawan stood
up at 9 o'clock and began His hour long Discourse. Bhagawan spoke about
the devotion and love of Mother Eswaramma and Karnam Subbamma. Swami told
the students that whatever they did in life, they should never forget God.
After Bhagawan concluded His Discourse with 'Bhajan Bina', He accepted
Aarati went into the interview room. Emerging in a few minutes, Swami cut
cakes on the verandah and retired to His residence.
In
the evening, the Sports programme was to be in the Indoor Stadium,
followed by musical performances in Sai Kulwant Hall. Bhagawan arrived at
the Sri Sathya Sai Sports Centre at 4.15 pm, resplendent in a yellow robe.
As He entered the stadium, a song performed by the students filled the
air, and all Swami's students joined in the chorus as Bhagawan alighted
from the car and went towards His right, where the Badminton courts were
ready for the first match - a forty minute doubles exhibition match
between India and Indonesia. India recovered after losing the first game
to take the match by two games to one. Bhagawan then moved in His chair to
the other half of the stadium which had the basketball court, for the
entertaining display by the Harlem Globetrotters.
The Harlem Globetrotters are a band of highly talented basketball players
who tour the world as Ambassadors of goodwill. This evening, they played
the New York Nationals in a friendly demonstration match. The proceedings
opened with the mascot Globie (dressed up in a costume with a globe of the
Earth as a head) endearing the audience with his antics. He arranged a
musical chairs contest with some primary school boys and made everyone
laugh.
The
Nationals and the Globetrotters then took over, dancing with the
basketball as if it were glued to their hands. After a few minutes of
demonstrations set to music, the game play began. During timeouts, the
players kept up interest by getting some children also involved. First a
small girl from the primary school was picked up and given a chance to
shoot, and later a small boy, too. The players also created humorous
interludes, horsing around with a pail of water which finally landed on
the referee! Their programme concluded after an hour, and Bhagawan had
group photos with them and also presented them with watches. Then Bhagawan
left for the Mandir.
Arriving at the Mandir at 6.45 pm, Swami asked the artistes Parveen
Sultana and Mandolin Srinivas if they were ready for their programme.
First was Begum Parveen Sultana's forty minute Hindustani classical vocal
concert. Mandolin Srinivas, once again accompanied by his brother and A.
Shivamani, came next. The musical fete concluded at 8.20 with Arati to
Bhagawan, bringing the curtain down on Bhagawan's 81st Birthday.
Today the new indoor stadium is inaugurated by president Kalam who
is also presiding over the 25th anniversary celebrations of the
university. The
University Convocation is being held inside the indoor stadium. Nadaswaram
music filled the Sai Kulwant Hall as devotees waited for Bhagawan to
appear for morning darshan. Some of the volleyball players were seated in
white tracksuits. Volleyball players from India and Sri Lanka, Basketball
players from India and Indonesia, along with Olympic athletes and gymnasts
from Greece and Switzerland are some of the participants in the inaugural
function of the Sri Sathya Sai Centre for Sports this afternoon.
Bhagawan arrived at 8.20 and sat onstage for half an hour listening to the
Vedic chants. Then He slowly walked towards the interview room, glancing
benignly at all on the way. Bhajans began at nine in the Bhajan Hall, with
the UK youth group singers alternating with the regular bhajan singers.
The afternoon programme was the inauguration of the Sri Sathya Sai
International Centre for Sports, continuing with the 25th Convocation of
the Deemed University Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning. CCTVs
had been arranged in the Sai Kulwant Hall, the Higher Secondary School and
the Hill view stadium so that all those who could not be in the Indoor
Stadium could witness the events. The Chief guest for the function was the
President of India, His Excellency Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Dignitaries
present included Governors of the States of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka
along with the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
At 3.30 pm, Bhagawan arrived at the venue accompanied by the President.
The Centre for Sports has a domed building at the entrance, commemorating
25 years of the Sathya Sai University. The first event was the
inauguration of the Commemorative building by the President, pressing a
button and cutting a ribbon. Swami and the President then got into a golf
cart and took a round of the Commemorative building, and then entered the
stadium, taking a full round there as a special song was played. As Swami
and the President approached, distinguished sportsmen and the teams
participating in the inaugural functions were introduced - cricketer Kapil
Dev, Olympic shooter Rajyavardhan Rathod, Badminton whiz Prakash Padukone,
the basketball and volleyball teams and officials. The Institute brass
band played as the convocation procession joined the Divine Chancellor.
Bhagawan and the Chief guest went up to take their seats in their special
stands above the entrance. After a few words of welcome by the master of
ceremonies Sri Sanjay Sahani, Principal of the Brindavan campus of the
Institute, as the main guests were garlanded. The Vice-Chancellor then
spoke a few words about Dr. and Mrs. Ram Setty who had endowed the indoor
stadium. Then Dr. Ram Setty expressed his gratitude to Bhagawan. Sri Kapil
Dev, the Wisden Indian cricketer of the century, gave a brief talk,
complementing the world class facility built in just 120 days. The
function got underway with a 10 minute video presentation by filmmaker
Manishankar, "Life is a game". Then the sports events began. First there
was a short gymnastics display by the Greek and Swiss athletes. Next was
an international volleyball match, India vs Sri Lanka - the second match
in Sri Lanka's tour of India. The match, which lasted from 4.30 to 5.10,
was speeded up by having points scored regardless of which side was
serving. India won 25-15, 25-13. The Indonesian and Indian basketball
teams offered their pranaams to Bhagawan - their match was slotted for
later.
The 25th Convocation of the Institute began at 5.35 after a short break
when refreshments were served to all and the students seated themselves in
the centre of the stadium in their ceremonial robes and hats. Waiting for
Bhagawan to arrive, our irrepressible President took the few moments to
interact with the students onstage who were to start the proceedings with
Vedam.
As Bhagawan declared the Convocation open, a short animation prepared by
the students was shown on the large projection screen. After the
Vice-Chancellor's address, the Chief guest gave his 35 minute convocation
address at 6.15 pm. As mentioned by him,
his convocation address is
available on this link! Bhagawan then delivered His 30 minute
Benedictory message, in which He exhorted the students to emulate Tenali
Ramakrishna and know the inner meaning of the letters, words and phrases
they use. As Swami said, the main root words we must learn are just five:
Sathya, Dharma, Shanthi, Prema and Ahimsa. After Bhagawan's Discourse, Sri
Mandolin U. Srinivas accompanied by his brother U. Rajesh and the
illustrious drummer A. Shivamani gave a half hour concert. The function
concluded with the National Anthem at 8.05 and Bhagawan returned to His
residence after 10 minutes.
November 21, 2006
Bhagawan's car came into the Sai Kulwant Hall at 4.10 p.m., Swami took
seat at the centre place of the veranda, after a few short minutes
onstage, Swami went inside the mandir. After the Bhajans conclusion &
customary Arati to Bhagawan the evening darshan ended. There were no
dances, drama or other programs today. Seva dal and many Sai sevaks are
working hard and around the clock to make tomorrow a day to remember.
Tomorrow, November 22nd 2006 is University Convocation and also the indoor
stadium’s formal inaugural day. President of India Abdul Kalam is expected
to inaugurate the Indoor Stadium, officially
calledSri Sathya Sai
International Centre for Sports. Over 150 athletes of Indian
fame as well as world renowned sports men from around the world are
expected to perform in there respected sports & athletic field in the
divine presence of Sathya Sai Baba and the august
guests.
In the evening, the annual day of the Eswaramma
Women's Welfare Trust was to be celebrated. As
Bhagawan's car came into
the Sai Kulwant Hall at 3.45 pm, the village drum troupe positioned near the central lotus gate
started their loud drumming. Bhagawan went into the interview room and
emerged after half an hour to more drumming till He reached the stage
area. Then the drumming stopped and the bicycle distribution began. Bhagawan moved down from the stage and
sat in the centre of the hall and watched as bicycles were given to
economically disadvantaged girls. The next item was a
Chakkabhajan dance
by small children from the village. Bhagawan called up the smallest boy in
the group and gave him a chain. One more village dance followed - by
elders this time, dressed in black
costumes fringed with peacock feathers.
By 4.40, the dances concluded, some of the village women presented short
speeches and songs, expressing their gratitude to Bhagawan for all that He
has done for them. Mrs. Chetana Raju, the organiser of the function, then
announced the distribution of material for mothers and mothers-to-be in
the surrounding villages, a thousand of whom had gathered in Bhagawan's
presence, symbolically handed over by Bhagawan to representatives from
each village. These consisted of water purifiers and bags containing
utensils and toys for the children. The doctors who were working for
mother and child welfare with the Mobile Hospital were then presented with
gifts of grace by Bhagawan.
The next item in the
EWWT celebrations was to be a
video projected on a large screen in the centre of the hall. But this
required the daylight to dim further. So, Bhagawan instructed His students
to present their dance. A few days previously, Bhagawan had told the
Institute dance group to be ready to dance on the 20th, so they were
dressed in costumes ready for the Divine command. Bhagawan came onstage
and watched as the boys danced for the next 40 minutes. Praises to Lord
Ganesha followed by a Yakshagana presenting the Krishna story, Dashavatara
dance and finally a dance on Bhagawan's glory. Swami graciously called up
the boys for a group photo. Just before six o'clock, the video began -
"The One Sri Sathya Sai." Beginning with the story of creation, the 20
minute film traced Man's fall from his divine origins and his final
redemption by Mother Sai's Love. Bhagawan accepted Arati at 6.20 pm and
returned to His residence. Prasadam was distributed as the devotees left
the Hall.

The Sai Kulwant Hall was decked with floral decorations for the Ladies'
Day celebrations. Bhagawan came to
the Hall at eight o'clock in a procession led by the Primary School
Bagpipes band with young girls holding plates with lamps welcoming the
Lord chanting Vedam. As Bhagawan entered the Hall, the strains of the song
"E Malik Tere Bande Hum" filled the air. Once Bhagawan was seated onstage,
the programme began with a Bagpipes display by the Primary School band.
Next was a ten minute choir medley by Sai youth from the UK. Two speeches
in Telugu and English followed by Mrs. Vasumathi Bhaskar Rao and Dr. Ronne
Marantz respectively. Mrs. Vasumathi is a Mahila Seva dal convener from
Andhra Pradesh and spoke about her experiences doing seva shoulder to
shoulder with Smt. Easwaramma garu. Dr. Ronne is a member of the
international Sri Sathya Sai Education Committee and Principal, Scarsdale
Public Schools, New York. She spoke of how her interactions with Swami and
His EHV programme helped her to implement value education in her school.
It was nearing nine o'clock as these speeches concluded, and Bhagawan
asked for Bhajans and prasadam distribution. Accepting Arati from the
ladies at 9.15, Bhagawan retired for the morning.
November 19, 2006 Evening: Bhagawan arrived for evening
darshan at 3.10 pm. After a few moments onstage, Swami went into the
interview room. From there, a large number of sarees were brought out and
kept near the front part of the stage. It was to be yet another saree
distribution. Bhagawan came onstage at 3.20, and a small girl from the
Primary school dressed for their dance programme later in the evening went
up to Him and gave Him a card. Bhagawan responded by giving her a chain!
Then the saree distribution began. Bhagawan was seated near the steps
leading down from the stage, and the ladies came up one by one and
collected sarees from Him. This went on for the next 45 minutes. Then
Swami stood up and gave some sarees. Later He sat again and continued.
Finally, after an hour, He left that spot and went to the centre of the
stage, indicating the Primary School children to begin their dance. After
the picturesque dance by the girls, some of whom were really tiny tots,
Bhagawan came down from the stage and gave group photos to all of them,
including the students in the band that performed in the morning. When
Bhagawan came back onstage, the Priya sisters went up to Bhagawan for His
blessings for their concert. The Carnatic vocals of the sisters
Shanmukhapriya and Haripriya wafted in the Sai Kulwant Hall for the next
hour. Bhagawan went into the interview room halfway through, and when He
returned at six o'clock, He asked for the Arati. Just as the Arati was
drawing to a close, students brought prasadam for Bhagawan's blessings,
and the distribution began. Swami continued to sit onstage for the
distribution, leafing through a photo album presented by Dr. Voleti
Choudhary of the SSSIHMS. After fifteen minutes, Swami entered His car and
left for Yajur Mandiram.

This morning, Bhagawan came for Darshan
at 7.30 am. The procession with Sai Gita, Bhagawan's elephant, was waiting
at the front gate of the Sai
Kulwant Hall for the Rathotsavam. As Swami's car reached her, He
paused, fed her with apples from the car, and then continued on His
darshan round. Swami's car came to the Verandah and He alighted, went to
the stage area and sat there for ten minutes listening to the Vedic chants
and the Panchavadyam by the students along with the village band. Then He
came to the interview room and later came into the Bhajan Hall where the
palanquins with the
Rama-Lakshmana-Sita-Hanuman and Krishna idols were kept ready decorated
with flowers. The Vedam group sat chanting in the Bhajan Hall in
orange dhoties.
The priest brought the ceremonial thread to be blessed by Bhagawan, and
then adorned Sita devi with it, waving camphor in front of the palanquins.
This marked the beginning of the procession, and the Vedam group led them
out with the palanquins hefted by specially trained Sevadals from
Hyderabad, followed by the Bhajan group. Bhagawan sat on His chair and
went to the Gopuram gate to see off the procession which goes to the Pedda
Venkappa Raju Kalyanamantapam and returns with the idols lifted atop the
ceremonial temple car (Ratham). Bhagawan returned to the interview room
till the procession returned a few minutes after nine o'clock. The Bhajan
group members started singing into the mics once the
Rama statue was kept back in the
Bhajan Hall. Bhagawan came to the Bhajan Hall soon after, sat for a
few Bhajans, accepted Arati and returned to His residence at 9.45.
Sai Gita's new residence, located
next to the Sri Sathya Sai Space Theatre (Planetarium), was being
inaugurated today. The Planetarium grounds were decorated with buntings
and flower arrangements. Bhagawan arrived at 10.40 and alighted right next
to Sai Gita who was standing at the entrance of her new building. After
feeding her, Swami went in His chair into the building and sat there while
some people connected with the construction like the contractor and so on
presented Him with bouquets. A
priest did a puja, broke a coconut in front of Sai Gita, and some of
the elders also broke coconuts. Bhagawan blessed clothes and food prasadam
for the workers who did the construction and were now sitting in the
garden area, and also sent watches to be distributed to them. Sai Gita was
then invited inside her new abode, and Swami fed her again with apples and
sugarcane. Bhagawan finally left at 11.10 accepting Arati and blessing
some ladies who were seated near the entrance.
The evening session was to have a
Russian programme of
songs and some chairs with mics were kept in the centre of the Sai Kulwant
Hall. Bhagawan arrived in the Sai Kulwant Hall and proceeded to the stage
area. After a few minutes, He called up the organisers who began the
programme at 4.10 pm. The rare traditional instrument psaltery was used
for the programme, which featured an eleven-year old soprano along with
other singers, an accordion and guitars. Bhagawan enjoyed the 40 minute
programme ending with the boy's rendering of the catchy "Kalinka". He
blessed them with group photographs, after which He asked for Bhajans to
be sung in the Sai Kulwant Hall itself. At 5.30, He accepted Arati and
returned to His residence. Also read:devotee's experience of 18th Nov. A mail

This morning also Bhagawan visited the Indoor
Stadium, returning to the Bhajan Hall at around 9.30 am. In the evening,
after His darshan round, Swami sat onstage listening to the Vedic chants
for around ten minutes. Since the sky was overcast, the Hall was somewhat
dark, so the stage area chandeliers came on as Bhagawan sat down,
highlighting the Lord flanked by the gleaming lions which had been newly
polished. This evening's Bhajans also featured the singers from the UK
youth group, alternating with the regular Bhajan singers. Bhagawan asked
for Arati at 5.45 and retired for the day.
In the area next to Bhagawan's residence, decorative lights lit up the
night - Bhagawan's residence in yellow and pink, the larger trees in
green, and the smaller trees and bushes in variegated hues. The Hanuman
statue, the Administrative Block and the Sanathana Samskruthi Museum on
their respective hilltops stood out with brilliant spotlights focused on
them. Crowd control barriers are being erected along the road from
Vidyagiri to the Ashram gates in view of all the VVIPs expected for the
Birthday celebrations. The Mandir decorations are back, in time for the
Rathotsavam tomorrow which will mark the beginning of the countdown for
the Birthday celebrations. -

This morning, the centre part of the Sai Kulwant Hall was occupied with
bright red bicycles! The Anantapur campus of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute
of Higher Learning had arranged the distribution of 81 bicycles to needy
girls in the vicinity of Anantapur who walked long distances to go to
school. Bhagawan came for darshan at a quarter to nine, and as His car
passed the bicycles, He sought some clarifications, pausing the car there.
After His darshan round, Swami went to the stage area. Once He was seated
there, some of the Anantapur teachers brought up some items for His
Blessings, and the programme got underway
with an
introductory voice-over. The recipients went near Bhagawan holding roses
in their hands, a student brought each recipient her bicycle and took her
to the rear of the hall wheeling the cycle between them. After this ten
minute ceremony, the Brass Band "Sai Melodies" of the Anantapur campus
presented a few pieces. As they played the penultimate piece, Bhagawan
went into the interview room and asked for Bhajans to begin in the Bhajan
Hall. Bhajans began at 9.20 and concluded after half an hour with Arati to
Bhagawan.
In the evening, Bhagawan went into the interview round after His darshan
round and emerged a few minutes after four to sit onstage with the Vedam
chanting in full swing. On two occasions, Swami asked the Vedam group to
chant specific mantras and they did so. Bhagawan was watching the Primary
school children as they chanted with gusto. After half an hour, as He was
going back, Swami asked for prasadam to be distributed. Speaking to the UK
group co-ordinator on the Verandah, Swami once again gave a chance to the
UK group to sing bhajans, and they began at 5.10 pm when Swami indicated
that they should begin. After
20 minutes of Bhajans, the students' Bhajan group took over. After one
more Bhajan, Swami asked for Meera songs, and after two Meera songs, Swami
retired for the evening after Arati. - Prasanthi Bulletin (radiosai)

This evening, Bhagawan asked a youth group from UK to sing in the Bhajan
Hall. At 4.45, they came and sat in the front of the Bhajan Hall and the
programme began as Bhagawan came in. They started with some quawwalis,
then Swami asked them to sing English songs, so they sang two English
songs, then a song in Tamil, followed by Bhajans. Bhagawan was pleased
with their performance and told them He would give them another chance
tomorrow.
November 14, 2006
This evening, Bhagawan graciously sat
outside in the stage area of the Sai Kulwant Hall for
nearly half an hour from 4.30 pm. He Blessed many 'Birthday Boys' and also
took letters from some of the students. Just before five o'clock He came
into the interview room, and later came to the Bhajan Hall for the
Bhajans.

Today November 12, 2006 This morning the
Akhanda Bhajan continued with group bhajans till the mics were switched on
at 7 am. Bhagawan came to the Bhajan Hall at 10 am and sat there till
eleven o'clock before returning to His residence. In the afternoon, at
around 2.15 Bhagawan went directly from Yajur Mandiram to the Indoor
Stadium and returned to the Sai Kulwant Hall at 2.45, coming into the Bhajan Hall and sitting there for around half an hour before going into
the interview room. After a few minutes, Swami went back to His residence,
and later returned after 5.15 pm, taking a full round of the Hall before
going into the Bhajan Hall. The last minutes of the Akhanda Bhajan were
filled with enthusiasm as usual, with the tempo going higher and higher
till finally Swami signalled for the Arati plate and lit the camphor. Then
came the prasadam distribution - tamarind rice (pulihora) and laddoos for
all on leaf plates. Swami started the distribution by throwing a few
laddoos to some of the Bhajan group members, and then went to the
interview room. When He came out, He
indicated to the Primary School students to begin, so they chanted Brahmarpanam in their unique style and then began eating as Swami returned
to His residence. -

November 11,2006
Om sairam to dear Sai family,
Greetings to all. The atmosphere in Puttaparthi is looking serene and
blissful as usual. There are so many things happening in Puttaparthi as
part of 81st birthday celebrations and the talk of the town is the new
indoor stadium and as a result of which Swamy is giving street darshans
almost every day. The stadium is coming out beautifully under the Personal
Divine Supervision, Every day, Swamy is giving suggestions, instructions
to the engineers who are amused by Swamy’s in-depth knowledge even in
construction. This morning I was
speaking to one of the engineers and he expressed happiness and also
surprise of Swamy’s frequent visits which were full of Constructive
instructions…
This stadium with an estimated cost of 11 crore rupees, was initially
planned as a 122 days project finished its deadline a week ago and the
workers are working day in and day out to meet the latest deadline
November 22, the day when this stadium would be dedicated to the Sathya
Institute Of Higher Learning, another flower in the garland of the
institute, by Swamy, which will also be presided by the President of
India, His Excellency, Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam and 4 states’ chief ministers.
Security arrangements for the VIPs visits has been beefed up.
Another happy news is the Puttaparthi police have banned selling chicken
around 9kms in and around this Holy land to maintain its sanctity.
Hopefully the authorities will also take a look at the roof top
restaurants (right across the ashram) which are running against the
interests of Puttaparthi culture where there is unnecessary socialization
and gossip spot....
This afternoon there were many people in the ashram premises on the
occasion of Akhanda bhajan. Hoping to be awake the whole night, I went to
my friend’s house for a afternoon nap. In the sleep, Swamy
appeared in my dream the car was near the bus station premises, and there
was no body around the car and I saw Swamy helping Himself for the seat to
come out. I run to the car and before I could see what happened next, I'm
awake. I could hear Swamy saying, come to darshan immediately to see what
happened next. Immediately I ran towards Ganesh Gate and there I see big
crowd on either side of the road, waiting for Swamy. Not knowing what
happened I asked a cop, is Swamy coming or going (to the stadium) and he
said, Swamy is coming from the stadium. Immediately I ran towards the
stadium as it’s a nice spot where the crowd is comparatively less.
We all were standing in front of the new stadium and we could hear loud
shouts from inside as if there is a nail biting match going on inside. A
tractor load arrived with huge boxes over loaded, VIMAL(a well known suiting and shirting's brand in India) was written on
the box, confirming that they were clothes in the boxes… None of us had
any idea as what was happening and before we could guess another round of
loud applause… I very much wanted to go inside but How?… I was saying to
my self “Swamy looks like its continuation of my dream…. Thank you …but do
me a favour.. Please let me in!!!! I was right in front of the new indoor
stadium gate and here comes a sevadal to me and says, aap student log
andar jahiye… Kapade baatne hain (clothes have to be distributed, you
students PLEASE go outside) that PLEASE from the sevadal brother was very
PLEASING.. and without wasting a second, I ran into the stadium, for the
first time, Iam entering the premises, tense,
happy and thankful to Swamy…
As I enter the large yet to be completed reception I see hundreds of
workers, men and women, some still wearing their safety helmets. .. some
holding it in their hands… looking at the lord of the lords… His blissful
form.. His worlds beautiful smile and above all His simplicity. The
workers were surprised and amused as how an Avatar come all the way to the
work place…. to bless them, guide them.. I should also say.. to thank them
for their time and hard work. The workers worked very hard day in and day
out for Swamy and there were few more, who were still working outside and
Swamy signaled the students to ask them in.. Such is the dedication of
these fortunate people. Never heard of Swamy and never heard innumerable
discourses like many of us.. but still practicing Swamy’s teaching WORK IS
WORSHIP.. Many of them are
migrated labourers, who have only heard of Swamy but never seen Him and
here He is at their immediate presence.. what a turn of luck. Their dusty
faces had a heartful smile which even a millionaire longs for.. their
dedication is beyond limits and their torn clothes made Swamy’s heart
melt. I don’t know what the great king Shahjahan gave to the labourers who
completed the beautiful monument called TAJ MAHAL,
but the King of Kings,
King of the whole Universe, our beloved Swamy is here to thank all His
chosen children for making His dream of a indoor stadium turn into a
reality…He has come here to give them gifts, GIFT of DARSHAN, SPARSHAN ,
SPARSHAN and also few other suprises…
Swamy has been with them almost every day. And every day there were
surprise enquiries made by Swamy to the workers.. just a smile is enough
for those hardworking souls and when Swamy speaks to them their hearts
jump in joy. The project has recorded Zero accidents from the day one and
how can anything happen when our beloved Swamy is with them.
Each person got a pant piece and the ladies got sarees and prasadam.
Before I went in I was told Swamy materialized a ring and a chain to two
people (labourers) and thus the loud applauds. All of us were very joyfull
and after about 40 mins stay Swamy’s car slowly moved out just passed me
and Swamy gave a sweet smile as soon as the car passed by…. I over take
the car and found another good spot, ready for Swamy with joined hands..
This time Swamy looks into my eyes.. just a glance made me feel He is
scanned my past, present and future.. and who else can know all these
other than our beloved Sai Ma… The car was moving very slowly as it was
still in the stadium premises… the car was approaching the gate and Swamy
bents a bit down to have a clear view of Sai Geetha’s new house..and says
something to the driver (brother Sathyajit). He was visibly happy with the
building.
The car now comes out on the road and thousands eagerly waiting for a
glance of Swamy and Swamy was very cheerful and blessing all the
devotees.. I thought let me do my routine, jog with the Master… the car
now comes to Sai Geetha who was eagerly waiting for its sweet heart and
many devotees know, Swamy’s car can’t go without haulting for atleast half
a minute.. thus giving a nice chance for all of us to see His blissfull
form from close angles.. The car now picked up some speed and Swamy was
looking on both sides.. smiled at every one.. somes times blessed a few.
The car’s AC was on and Swamy’s hairs were dancing reminding the cosmic
dance of Shiva and the smile oh!! Uncomparable and the way Swamy adjust
His hair is UNIQUE, the way He rubs His lips with the hand kerchief is
UNIQUE the way He smiles is UNIQUE and that’s why our beloved Swamy is
UNIQUE.. the car now entered the main arch just before the general
hospital. I was still running just to see His UNIQUE actions and make use
of this UNIQUE chance to maximu.... and I know this experience will have
long lasting effects. Just before the general hospital a old lady was seen
holding a big plate in her hands and offering arathi to Swamy and Swamy
just like a child with a beautiful smile and happiness points the grandma
to the driver and says something for which all the inmates(of the car)
shake their heads in acceptance..
The car now gets closer to the bus station Iwas at the exact spot where I
dreamt Swamy helping Himself… I thanked Him in gratitude and tears rolled
down my eyes, not knowing how to thank Swamy for this boon… I still
managed to run with car and suddenly Swamy looks at me shakes His head up
and down and smiles…the smile which confirmed the dream.. the smile which
confirmed the receipt of my thanks giving.. Oh Swamy!!! Please continue to
shower your blessings like this on all of us…the car now came to close to
the samdhi road, and the driver points towards the samadhi road and says
something to Swamy. Just as the car got closer to Sai Towers hotel, and as
I was still running with my hands joined Swamy signals ENOUGH and thus
ended another beautiful experience at the holy land
Exactly at 6pm the Akhanda Bhajan started and Swamy was in Kulwanth hall
till 7pm after which He retired to His abode….
With Humble Pranams at the lotus Feet of our beloved Sai Ma… I conclude
this email…

More Darshan news
from November 11, 2006Today Evening Swami visited the construction site
at appx 3:25 P.M. . Swami distributed the site workers with clothes &
wrist watches as token of His appreciation for their labour of love and
hard work. Swami returned back inside the ashram,
Prasanthi Nilayam at 4:30 P.M. Many lucky devotees got pretty close car
darshan at the main road . At 5.25 i.e. after the Swami's arrival at the
Sai Kulwant hall the Akhanda Bhajan commenced. Swami left for His
residence at 7:30 P.M. The Akhanda Bhajan continues till tomorrow evening.
November 8, 2006
This morning too, Bhagawan visited the
construction site of the Indoor Stadium, the Sri Sathya Sai Centre for
Sports. In the evening, after darshan at 3.50 pm, Bhagawan came out on the
Verandah at 4.10 and came into the Bhajan Hall through the rear door in
His chair, going all the way to the front, taking letters and talking to
many on the way. After a few minutes, He went out to the stage area, sat
there for 10 minutes and came back to the interview room. At 4.45,
Bhagawan came into the Bhajan Hall, and a few minutes later asked for the
Bhajans to commence. Arati was as usual at 5.30 pm.
Pandemonium again.
Baba came out in the car briefly and went inside. Many people left. About
twenty minutes later, Baba came out in the wheelchair. First to the
women's side by the white line and then proceeded followed the line almost
to the men's bench by the wall where he turned to the men sitting in the
center and returned to the varendah.
People were running all over to get back into Kulwant Hall. Seva dal and
security scrambled to maintain order. It was typical Baba. Love my
uncertainity.
Earlier Baba went to the sports stadium. It is amazing how much got done
in just the few weeks I have been here. There is no doubt that it will be
done on time. Date of completion November 18th.
Baba's energy has been different this past week. I am not sure how to
explain it.
I have had to miss some darshans because of illness.
But I am happy. This is the place to be. There is Shanthi here.
Recently, a friend was very ill and a lot of devotees prayed fro him.
Several days later, when I found out I went into deep prayer. I discovered
a layer of negativity covering the positive energy which was protecting
and healing him.
This is the results of praying for someone but not believing that they are
going to get well. In casual conversation we say that so-so is not going
to make it, it doesn't look good, etc. This sends out negative thought
forms to the person which can even negate the healing thoughts that are
being sent.
We do not know anyone's future or why they are going through what they
are. We should always pray for their highest good.

as slide show November 7, 2006 This morning, Swami sat outside listening to the Vedam chanted by the
Brindavan students for around fifteen minutes before morning bhajans. The
Brindavan students are here till Bhagawan's Birthday and have classes in
the afternoons at the Higher Secondary School.
This evening also Bhagawan visited the Indoor stadium construction site as
soon as He came for Darshan. On His return, after a few minutes in the
interview room, He came into the Bhajan Hall and asked for Smt. P.
Susheela (the singer). Once He was seated in the Bhajan Hall, He asked her
to sing the song 'Andaraani Chandamaama', and she stood next to Him and
sang. Then He continued the conversation, talking about the moon (which is
the subject of the song) and called up the "Scientist" - Prof
Venkataraman, the former Vice Chancellor. After a few minutes of animated
discussions including a small astronomy quiz, the Professor was rewarded
with a thick gold chain with a two inch pendant! Then the conversation
moved back to songs, and Swami asked one of the singers to start with a
song - he sang a song on the Mother Goddess, "Chamundeswari Paalaya Maam".
After that song, which was with the mics, the conversation resumed.
Another singer was summoned, and his songs to Swami began, this time
sitting right next to Swami and without instruments or microphones. After
his first song "Baaro Krishnaiyya", Swami called Smt. Susheela again, and
commented on the similarity to her late collegue P. Leela's style. His
next song was on the Sun god, "Kaarya Kaarana Swaroopane" with a
scintillating Aalaap. Bhagawan was very pleased, and asked for Bhajans to
begin - it was already 5.25! After the Ganesh bhajan, once again an aalaap
and the Bhajan "Sai Pita aur Maata Sai" - Swami asked both the students
He'd called up to sing it together. With that, Swami took Arati and
returned to Yajur Mandiram.

This morning, Bhagawan came to the Sai Kulwant Hall after the nine 'clock
Bhajans began. After Arati at 9.40 am, He left for a tour of the Indoor
stadium construction site before returning to His residence. In the
evening, Bhagawan sat in the Bhajan Hall at 4.10 and started interacting
with some of the students and teachers there. The Director of the Super
Speciality Hospitals, Dr. Safaya, also had some interaction with Swami.
Bhajans began at 4.50 and concluded with Arati at 5.30 pm.

his
evening, Bhagawan went to the Stadium construction site via the Ganesh
gate at 3.30 pm instead of coming to the Sai Kulwant Hall. It was
drizzling when He returned at 4.10. After alighting, Bhagawan went into
the interview room for a few minutes and then came to the Bhajan Hall.
Sitting on His throne, He spoke with some of the students and asked one of
them for his book - it was a Likhita Nama Japam book. Swami went through
the pages and talked to the student about it. Later, He called up and
spoke to Mr. Chakravarthy, the Secretary of the Central Trust. Then He
asked for a particular set of material to be brought for His inspection
from His residence. While it was being brought, He spoke to the Principal
of the Anantapur campus, asking her when the students were coming, how
many of them were there and so on. The material He had asked for duly
arrived - they were sarees. After checking them and choosing the ones He
wanted, they were sent to the interview room. Bhajans began at 4.45 and
concluded at 5.30 pm.
November 4, 2006
This evening Bhagawan came into the Bhajan Hall at 4.40 and asked for Dr.
P. Susheela, the singer. Seated on His throne, He carried on a
conversation with her for the next fifteen minutes, starting with
pleasantries, moving to a more sombre note and finally finishing in a
light-hearted vein. Bhajans began five minutes early on His behest, and
continued till 5.30 pm.
November 3, 2006
This evening, Bhagawan came out of the interview room at 4 o'clock and
proceeded in His car to the Indoor Stadium construction site. After He
returned, He came into the Bhajan Hall at around 4.45 and spoke to a few
of the students in the Bhajan group. He observed that Dr. P. Susheela (the
famous singer) had come, and enquired of her about Smt. Anjali Devi (the
thespian). After 15 minutes of Bhajans, Bhagawan asked the music college
boys to sing Meera Bhajans. Accepting Arati at 5.45, He retired for the
day.
November 2, 2006
This evening, as Bhagawan came into the Sai Kulwant Hall at 3.30 pm, there
was a large boom crane with a camera filming him from near the front of
the hall. It was the filmmaker Manishankar and his crew, who have been
going around the Ashram and environs filming for the last three days.
Yesterday, Swami had gone to the Indoor stadium construction site after
sending word for some students to be available there, and had overseen the
distribution of biscuits to all the construction workers by the students.
After His site visit, Swami sat onstage for nearly fifteen minutes, and
the film crew was filming right behind the students in front of Bhagawan.
Today Swami came into the Bhajan Hall at 4.40 and enquired after several
of the students in the Bhajan group. After speaking to them, He called the
Vice-chancellor Sri A. V. Gokak and spoke with him also about these boys,
one by one. Then He asked one of them to call his parents for an
interview, and left for the interview room five minutes before the Bhajans
began, returning at 5.20 to sit for ten minutes and then retire for the
day after Arati. Swami drove ( Photo below) out today to visit the Indoor Stadium
construction site and returned.
October 31, 2006 This
morning, Bhagawan did not come to the Sai Kulwant Hall, but in the evening
when He came for darshan at 3.15 pm, He turned left as soon as the car
reached the centre of the Hall to visit the Indoor Stadium construction
site yet again, like He did last morning at 8.45 am. After He returned, He
went into the interview room and later to the Bhajan Hall at 4.15. Today,
it was the turn of some of the Primary School boys to get individual
attention from Bhagawan. Some of these boys who had not gone home for the
vacation were seated in the Bhajan Hall among the older students. Bhagawan
spotted some of them sitting right behind the Bhajan group and called them
up. For the next 45 minutes, He had a wonderful time with them - asking
them questions like where they came from, how they got here, whether they
knew Vedam, who teaches them Vedam, and so on. He read the letters they
had written to Him, and quizzed them on the contents: "What
do you mean by
Dearest Swami? And you say Beloved Divine Mother - what about Father?" He
asked them to recite Vedam one by one, and later, to sing some bhajans.
The joyous session went on past five o'clock till the Bhajans finally
started, with the children still seated right at the front. Bhagawan
retired to His residence after Arati at 5.40 pm. Download

This morning, Bhagawan came for darshan at 7.45 am, and after His darshan
round in the car, went into the interview room. From there, He sent
clothes for some of the elders seated on the verandah, and also called
some of them inside one by one. After some time, with the Maharashtra Sai
Organisation State President, Bhagawan came down on His chair to near the
garage on the Eastern side of the Mandir, where some youth from
Maharashtra were seated. Swami gave them vibhuti prasadam and Blessed them
profusely. The morning Bhajans began when Swami was still outside, and He
came to the Bhajan Hall and sat for a few Bhajans before accepting Arati
and returning to His abode.
In the evening, after His
darshan round at 4 o'clock, Bhagawan sat onstage for half an hour,
listening to Vedam and granting a long darshan to all in Sai Kulwant Hall.
Then He walked to the interview room. At around 4.45, He came out in His
chair and made a beeline for the ladies' side - much excitement! As He
went around in His chair, He called up many ladies from among the
devotees, to go and sit near the interview room. Not content with several
rounds of the ladies, Swami asked for His chair to be taken right next to
where the elderly ladies sit near the centre of Sai Kulwant Hall - not
once, but twice! And He went right up to the end till He could not proceed
further because the way was blocked by devotees! Then He went to the
verandah and distributed sarees to all whom He had called up. Bhajans had
begun at five o'clock, and Bhagawan finished His distribution and came
into the Bhajan Hall for the second half of the Bhajans before accepting
Arati at 5.30 and returning to Yajur Mandiram.

swami drove out today to visit the Indoor Stadium construction
site and returned. He has been visiting the Stadium site almost daily.
The lucky devotees on the both sides of the main road and the
construction workers at the site are blissfully enjoying the car darshanalmost everyday

This morning, Bhagawan Blessed two Lecturers in Physics who were to embark
on their PhDs, and also spent some time on the upper veranda talking to
some of the elders there before the Bhajans commenced. The evening session
was a windfall for the ladies. After His darshan round, Swami went around
the ladies side three times in the car for more than half an hour,
stopping every other step, talking to many ladies, calling up around a
hundred of them to the Mandir Bhajan Hall. There, He called them up one by
one and gave them sarees - the Birthday saree distribution had been
advanced this year! After 15 minutes of this, He spoke to some of the
Primary School teachers who were also present, and asked them to chant
Vedam. They chanted Rudram followed by Purushasooktham and then the Sai
Gayatri. The Bhajan Hall session continued for nearly 40 minutes, with
Swami repeatedly asking if everyone had received the sarees, and finally
walking out Blessing all with both hands. The Bhajan singers sang several
Devi Bhajans
during
the five o'clock Bhajans, and Bhagawan returned to His abode after Arati
at 5.40 pm.
Sathya Sai Baba's
Magic for Harlem Ambassador.
"Forbes the Advance ambassador for Harlem Globetrotters who are scheduled
to visit South India in November says he is stunned by Baba's Intuitive
powers and the Significant little gifts that he gave while he called on
him.
"He asked me how many children i had and i replied four," recalled Forbes
of his first encounter with Baba. "Not five," queried baba and forbes
asserted he had only four. Ruminating on the incident later, Forbes
realised his wife had a miscarriage during her first delivery. There were
more surprises in store for the Harlem icon. "He asked me if i was
interested in rings. I thought it was the basketball ring. He just lifted
his hand, folded the palm opened it , took a diamond ring out of thin air
and said, 'give this to your wife.' She had in fact lost her ring two
weeks back and i was really surprised," said Forbes who performed his basketball tricks for Baba in
return. " -

This morning, Bhagawan came out of His residence a few minutes
after 8.30. But instead of going to the Sai Kulwant Hall, the car took a
right turn and went to the Indoor Stadium construction site through the
Ganesh Gate. Bhajans had commenced by the time Bhagawan returned. After
sitting in the Bhajan Hall till Arati at 9.30, Swami went into the
interview room, and remained there for quite a while before returning to
His residence. In the evening, after darshan at five past four, Swami went
into the interview room. After half an hour, He walked down the upper
portico talking to some of the elders seated there and then returned to
the interview room. Bhajans began at five as usual, and Swami retired for
the day after Arati at 5.30.
October 24, 2006
This
evening, Bhagawan arrived for darshan at 3.45. After passing the ladies'
side, He cut across to alight near the interview room door and walked into
the Bhajan Hall. There, some of His students were ready in costumes to put
up a programme on the occasion of Id. Bhagawan smiled on seeing them and
seated Himself on the throne. Then He spoke with them for 75 minutes! It
was really like a group interview conducted there in the Bhajan Hall. What
is the meaning of Islam, what is the meaning of devotion, what is the
meaning of surrender, how one should Love God, what should a Sai student
do after his studies - Swami spoke on all these, with a charming smile on
His face, answering questions, lightening the mood with a joke, calling up
one and asking his name, asking another one where he came from.....
Finally, at 5.10, Bhagawan said, "All the time has been spent just with
you!" Then the students mentioned that they had quite a few songs in their
skit - and Swami said, "Sing!" The singers were outside, so by the time
they came inside, the group started off with the song "Hum ko Tum se Pyar
kitna...". Then Swami said, "Go, go to your places", so the students got
ready at their positions for the drama. But then Bhagawan sent word from
inside the interview room for Bhajans to commence. All rushed into the
Bhajan Hall, Swami sat till 5.30, asked for the Arati with a smile, and
left for His residence.

The devotees from Gujarat got their chance to present their programme
today. In the morning, as Bhagawan arrived for darshan at 8.15, a welcome
song was sung by the ladies till Bhagawan was seated onstage. Commencing
with their traditional Garbha dance, the programme continued with a skit
in English till 9.30 am. The skit highlighted Bhagawan's teachings being
put into practice through the Rajkot Sathya Sai Heart Hospital. After the
skit, Prasadam was distributed while Bhajans were sung by the Gujarat
devotees. Bhagawan then accepted Arati and returned to His residence.
In the evening, Bhagawan had a surprise
in store. After darshan He went into the interview room, and at 4.15, He
came out, asking one of the students to speak in Telugu. After his speech
delivered with many quotations in classical Telugu, Sri B. N.
Narasimhamurthy, warden of the Brindavan Hostel, was asked to speak. Sri
Narasimhamurthy spoke till 5.15, narrating many instances of Bhagawan's
Motherly Love. Then Bhagawan went into the
interview room, and returned in five minutes' time for the drama presented
by the Sai Youth and Balvikas children of Gujarat. The drama, with the
theme 'Love in Action is Seva' revolved around the transformation of some
skeptical youth who came to Prasanthi Nilayam through the path of loving
service. After the drama, Swami came down from the stage and Blessed the
participants with group photographs. Bhajans commenced along with prasadam
distribution, and Bhagawan returned to His abode after Arati at 6.20 pm.
October 22, 2006
This is a long weekend in India, with a series of festivals falling on
either side of Saturday and Sunday. Bhagawan's Avatar Declaration day,
Deepavali, Gujarati New Year and Id-ul-Fitr follow each other. Bhagawan
has been coming for darshan and Bhajans, and groups from Andhra and
Gujarat have had His darshan, but no special programmes were staged. The
Maharashtra Chief Minister along with a former Union Finance Minister and
representatives of a US basketball team were among those who had an
audience with Swami over the last few days. The basketball team is likely
to play during the inauguration of the Indoor Stadium complex during
Bhagawan's 81st Birthday celebrations.
Last evening, Swami came out of the interview room at 4.25 pm and sat
outside for half an hour, Blessing the 'Birthday boys' and interacting
with the students. He took letters from a large number of students, and
even created a chain for one of them. This morning, Bhajans began at 9
o'clock just as Bhagawan arrived in the Sai Kulwant Hall. After going into
the interview room for a short while, He came outside and sat for a while,
granting a long darshan for all in the Hall for around 20 minutes. Then He
went into the Bhajan Hall, sat there for a while, and left for His abode
after Arati at around 9.45 am.
In the evening, after Darshan a few
minutes before 4 pm, Bhagawan went into the interview room and word was
sent for the mics to be kept ready onstage: Sri S. V. Giri, the former
Vice-Chancellor was likely to speak. Bhagawan came out at 4.15 and sat
onstage, listening to the Vedam. He Blessed some 'Birthday boys' and
called up some students with letters and spoke to them. Sri Giri had a few
words with Bhagawan and returned to his seat. When it was nearing 5 pm,
Bhagawan got up and walked to the interview room. But He returned after a
minute or two, and at 5 o'clock, asked Sri Giri to commence. Sri Giri
began in English, and later switched to Telugu, explaining that Bhagawan
had asked him to speak in Telugu since many people from Andhra had
gathered. He spoke on the significance of the festivals we had witnessed:
the Ati Rudra Maha Yagnam, Dasara, Deepavali and Bhagawan's Avatarhood
declaration day. After his speech, Bhagawan asked for the Vedam to
commence and called up students from the USA, Lithuania and Iran, telling
them to face the audience and chant. Then He asked Sri Giri to tell the
gathering about these boys from distant lands who learnt the Vedas. At
5.45, Bhagawan asked for Bhajans to commence. 15 minutes later, He
accepted Arati and retired for the day.

The up
coming indoor stadium inauguration is "introducing" many celebrities to
Puttaparthi at the moment The basketball player from Harlem Globetrotters is here in Puttaparthi.
Apparently, they will be playing on the inauguration day. Also today,
Swami gave car darshan to the devotees on the main road on his way to the
Indoor Stadium construction site and returned back before the morning

there, radiating Love to one and all. He called up many students who had
letters in their hands. They came up to Him, and He had a few loving words
to each one. A few minutes before five o'clock, Bhagawan asked for Bhajans
to commence, and the Bhajan group students began the bhajans from inside
the Bhajan Hall. Swami continued to sit outside for some time, then He
walked to the Bhajan Hall via the Eastern side of the stage, Blessing some
elders seated there on the way. After a few minutes in the Bhajan Hall,
