US pilgrimage: Play, 11 July
 

All Our Relations

The US children perform a play about the American Native Indian perspective on spirituality, using the medicine wheel. The native indians believe that rocks, trees, earth, animals, fish --all are our relations and have to be used and treated with respect.

We hear a native indian chant by a native Indian. The image shows George Walking Bear giving Bhagavan a rose.

Approx. 700 devotees from the United States visited Prasanthi Nilayam starting 23 June, one of many pilgrimages in summer 2010. Here, they sing a wide variety of songs in Sai Kulwant Hall, from newer songs like Love All, Serve All to old favorites like Shalu Shalom Yerushalayim. One song states the feeling of all on this pilgrimage: Our God Is An Awesome God.

Swami spends an hour interacting with the devotees from croatia after their musical performance --talking to them, taking letters, handing out vibuthi materializing vibuthi. The editors of the video have put wonderful music with this video.

Swami distributeed vibuthi to a large contingent of devotees from Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina. They then presented their musical program, with songs from each country. Swami asked them to sing bhajans, and he had clothes distributed to them. Swami asked Anil Kumar to announce that He was pleased with their performance.

The international children's choir, under the theme "Christmas in Prasanthi is Pure Grace", sang a number of songs.

This was followed by a drama titled "Christmas Comes to My Heart", based on Bhagawan’s teachings and the biblical gospels of Saint Luke and Saint Matthew.

After Bhagawan makes the rounds, comes on the verandah, and cuts Christmas cakes, the University Brass Band plays popular Christmas numbers. Then Christmas Carols are sung, tied together by a dialogue sequences involving Uncle John and Little David, talking about the birth of Baby Jesus.

At the end, Bhagawan had a student announce that the songs sung by the choir were touching and made Him very happy.

Dana Gillespie, from the UK, offers a medly of old and new songs, all with spiritual meaning and addressed to Bhagawan.

The Malladi Brothers again offer songs with a perfect mix of Bhava, Raga, and Tala (feeling, tune, and beat). Bhagawan materializes necklaces for the brothers.

Bhagawan enters Sai Kulwant Hall, following several bands and Vedic chanting groups. Once on the stage, He asks the famous Carnatic musical artists, the Malladi brothers, to perform.

After the performance and Arathi, we see Bhagawan lighting candles and cutting several Birthday Cakes, on the verandah and in the mandir.

Sathya Kathalu. After Bhagawan's darshan round, the Tamil Nadu youth presented a dance-drama titled Sathya Kathulu.

Aftwerward, some small girls who took part in it came to Him with a card, and he created a necklace for one of them.

Clothes were given to all participants, and group pictures were taken with Bhagawan.

Victor Kanu introduces this group of 45 Africans, who have come to sing before Swami. Using local (African) instruments for accompaniment, as well as a keyboard, they performed 9 compositions in languages such as Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo.

During the performance, Swami went among the singers, and afterward, he handed out gifts individually to the choir members.

Brazilian Singing

About 300 Brazilians sing before Swami in Sai Kulwant Hall. The 8 bhajans in Portuguese kept the audience tapping to the decidely South American beat. They also sang Bhagawan’s own Manasa Bhajare Guru Charanam.

Holi The bal vikas and youth wing (women) of Bihar and Jharkhand perform music and beautifully choreographed dancing, specially prepared for the Holi celebrations. After the performance, Swami goes among the dancers, taking letters. The video ends with Samastalokah.

(Holi is a 2-5 day spring festival associated with the worship of Krishna and his friendship with the gopis (cowherd maidens). It is named after Holika, the sister of Hiranyakasipu.)

Sivarathri speeches Former Vice Chancellor Sri SV Giri dwelled upon the significance of the sacred night, calling the festivity a cultural representation of the country,

Bharath. Sri. V. Srinivasan, All India President, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, expressed the greater benediction that befell the people assembled to celebrate the festivity in His Divine Presence.

Mr. Ajith Popat gave an electrifying speech, an appetizer warming up for the lofty Divine Discourse that was in waiting.

The Hungarian Choir is asked to sing again. And sing the choir does, beautifully. In what appears to be the end of the performance, Swami materializes a necklace for one of the performers. Then, after some conversation, the choir sings again.

Sports festival! The evening is devoted to performances by the students of the Primary School, giving us a riot of colour and song in the form of dances, balancing acts, floor exercises --even gymnastics on roller skates.

At the end, after Arati, we are treated to closeups of Bhagavan as He leaves.

In this Annual Sports Festival, everyone wins, for the game is not to compete but to create innovative and entertaining presentations that show what people can do when they work together for the benefit of all.

Sports festival! After Bhagavan arrives at Hillview Stadium, the students of the University and Schools parade in. We are then treated to magnificent, beautiful, and breathtaking performances, from students on trampolines (calling themselves the "trampolions") to acrobatic feats on motorcycles, creative percussionists, feats on stilt-ladders, exquisite presentations depiciting the elements by the women of the Anantapur campus, ancient defensive arts, and more.

A dozen "Santas" ran around, spraying chocolates on all. The University students entertain us all with Christmas carols, interpersed with some explanations.

Morning Festivities, 83rd Birthday
 

83rd Birthday. Four bands and a group of boys chanting slokas precede Swami into Sai Kulwant Hall, and Swami makes the rounds. Once Swami is on the verandah, some college boys sing, and prasad is passed out to everyone in Sai Kulwant Hall —throughout we get Swami's darshan.

Swami goes toward the back of the verandah, and we see Him cutting several birthday cakes. The celebration ends with Arathi and Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu.

Day 3 (conclusion). This yajna is performed to commemorate a person's living to see 1000 full moons. Because the time between full moons averages 29.531 days, this happens some time after the completion of 81 years.

The yajna is conducted for the benefit of the individual. In this case, the individual is the Avatar of the age, and the yajna was performed for a greater purpose: to bring peace and happiness in the world and help redeem man from the cycle of birth and death. Continued below.

Day 2. Continued from above. The yajna, which was conducted in Hillview Stadium in the view of thousands, had two phases: a preparatory phase and an executive phase. In the first phase, there are various rituals, with holy ablutions being offered to Lord Shiva at the end. One part of the executive phase includes the individual occupying a throne positioned in a prominent place —hence Bhagavan Baba on the Golden Chariot. Continued below.

Swami is in Prasanthi Nilayam for Easwaramma Day after a gap of many years.

Swami spends some time at the holy mausoleum where the mortal remains of His earthly parents are interred. He returns to Sai Kulwant Hall and listensto Veda Chanting and bhajans by His students.

In the evening, Dr. G.Venkataraman, former Vice-Chancellor of Sri Sathya Sai University, address the gathering in Sai Kulwant Hall.

Austrian Hallelujah, 19 Jul 2008
 

The Sai Choir of Austria gave a rousing performance, singing 9-10 songs in German, their mother tongue. We hear Mozart's Hallelujah. The song "Wenn wir erklimme" expresses the idea of climbing a mountain to reach the goal of merging. Many of the songs used yodeling, a particularly unique Austrian-Germanic way of singing.

This intriquingly beautiful and different concert enthralled everyone!

Education Exhibition Inauguration, 20 Jul 2008
 

Bhagavan Baba inaugurated the Exhibition in the Purnachandra at 11AM on 20 July just before the start of the Sri Sathya Sai World Foundation Education Conference. We see His entrance to the Exhibition, including lighting a flame. He then looks at the whole Exhibition, with various narrators explaining to Him the panels that He is looking at (there were panels on Sai Institutes, Sai Schools, SSE, and SSEHV). Bhagavan also watched a video on Sai Education that had just been completed.

Swami is wheeled through Sai Kulwant Hall, and even outside in order to grant darshan to those outside and those preparing a meal for students. Swami takes the time to talk to many students.

We see the food being prepared and then eaten by the students, who sang all night long.

We have a long darshan, as Bhagavan comes into Sai Kulwant Hall and moves through the crowds and onto the veranda. In the background is instrumental music.

Sri V.Srinivasan, All India President of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, addresses the gathering. He points out: although ‘Ratri’ or night is usually associated with ignorance, Maha Sivarathri is unique because it is the night of ‘Siva’ or auspiciousness, where the finite individual merges in the infinite Godhead.

The celebrations started at 9AM, with parades leading Bhagavan into Sai Kulwant Hall. The Carnatic music duo Malladi Rama Prasad and Malladi Ravikumar performed. Then, five couples, annointed Swami, with Anil Kumar explaining the signifance of he ceremony. In the eveing, the Malladi brothers performed again, followed by Hariharan singing.

Ladies Day at Prasanthi

A parade of vedic chanters and bands lead Swami into Sai Kulwant Hall. We see just a bit of the giving away of 50 cows and 14 calves. Dr. Hymavathi Reddy and Mrs. Sowcar Janaki give short talks. In the evening, celebrated carnatic singer Nithyasree Mahadevan enthralled the audience with her singing. A dazzling musical drama by the primary school children,titled "Sai Leela", based on Swami's life, ended the festivities.

Hariharan sings

The evening of24 July had devotees gathered in Kulwant Hall captivated by an awe-inspiring performance by Padmashree Hariharan of the "Colonial Cousins" fame. Hariharan, well trained in Carnatic and Hindustani music, has had great success in his fusion experiments. Though he started his career as a Ghazal singer, he found a grander following in fusion music with his album in 1996. Since then he is much sought after in the light music scene as well.

Devotees from Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia perform a play, "My Parents, My Treasure", with coloruful dancing. The drama vividly captures the dilemma people face these days: the conflict between profound ancient culture and wisdom on one hand and the modern, material lifestyle on the other.

Chinese new year morning

Swami was led into Sai Kulwant Hall in a procession and colourful pageantry of lion dancers and men dressed in Chinese regal attire. Swami lit candles. Mr. Billy Fong Goon Poy, organizing chair of the celebrations, addressed the gathering. In the Chinese tradition, tea and cake were offered to Bhagwan. Students then recited Vedic mantras and stanzas from the "Di Zi Gui", a code of conduct for children. A choir presentation and bhajans, some in Chinese, end the video.

Pure Love
 
pure love   Prepare yourself for an experience. After a brief intro of part of Suprabhatam and nagasankirtan, we move to 45 minutes of beautiful, slow-motion shots of darshan in the early 1990s. Swami is radiant and full of love and smiles, and the devotion of everyone is evident. Halfway through the video, the exquisite, moving music "How I love thee" intensifies the devotion one feels from watching this video. The video ends with Christmas Eve and "Silent Night".

Christmas Day

Students of the Primary School presented a violin programme, and the Institute Brass Band followed with a thrilling performance. Singing of carols then commenced. At the end of the performances, Swami walked around and looked at the splendid cakes that had been baked for the occasion.

  This documentary, created in November 2006, gives the highlights of the SSSIHL, which had its start in 1968 with the founding of the woman's college in Anantapur and became a university in 1981. The last part of the documentary highlights the construction of the new indoor Stadium, which was finished in time for the 25th Convocation of the Institute.

We are treated to the inaugural procession with Swami, the President of India, and the governors of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh; the national anthem; speeches; and a film. Members of the world class Greece and Switzerland gymnastics teams perform, and there is a volleyball match between the Sri Lankan and India teams.

The Growing Garland

This play is performed by the children in the Sathya Sai School of Canada, in Toronto, Canada. The school was started in 2000. The play takes place in the future, about 2070, and revolves around an elderly lady who went to the school as a child.

The "milestone" discourse
In 1968, Sathya Sai Baba spoke for almost the first time in a major discourse about His being the Avatar and proclaimed His mission on earth: the establishment of righteousness. In this video, made from a 16mm film titled "The message I bring", by the late Richard Bock, Dr. Kasturi reads the discourse while we see scenes from darshan at the time.

Hymns from the Vedas: Song of Creation
 
This eleven-minute film describing the Creation of the Universe contains the words of Sathya Sai Baba and selected verses from the Vedas - including the Rig Veda, The Atharva Veda, and the later Upanisads. Chennai Water Project
 
 
For decades Chennai was a city without water, many forced to three jugs of water per family, filled from trucks which transported sadly limited supplies to the people. Sathya Sai Baba promised to bring water to the community, and the sparkling flood filled the canal on 27 November 2004, Baba's birthday according to the Hindu calendar.

The Story of the Sathya Sai Baba Water Project
 
 
One of Sathya Sai Baba's greatest service projects has been his amazing on-going project to supply fresh drinking water to over 700 remote villages in rural India. The people of these impoverished villages had for many years been without drinkable water until 1995 when Swami began construction on this massive undertaking. This ten-minute film is the story of his wondrous miracle that solved this long-felt need.

The students of the Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning in Puttaparthi, India have long been known for their fine character and service to fellow man. This ten-minute film gives a wonderful insight into their ability to spread Swami's Love to the poorest of the poor.
