28-07-2014

Presenting the first programme for the academic year 2014-15, postgraduate students of Sri Sathya Sai Institute Of Higher Learning presented a ‘Burra Katha’ on the theme “Smt. Easwaramma – The Mother Who Gave The World The Living God” this evening here in Prasanthi Nilayam.

The programme commenced at 1700 hrs. with introductions in English and Telugu about the art-form. Burra Katha is a story-telling technique, a folklore art of Andhra Pradesh. It was in 2003, that Bhagawan revived this otherwise decaying art form blessing and guiding His students with opportunities to present in His immediate Divine Presence. Eversince it has been a flourishing tale for the art-form at the ultimate seat of God Incarnate. Burra Katha sessions in Prasanthi used to have special significance during Bhagawan’s physical presence, as, on most occasions, it was Bhagawan Who ‘demanded’ the same, selecting the theme and title by Himself.

Continuing the tradition, the theme for the evening was on the illustrious life of Mother Easwaramma. Hailing the Mother’s advent a ‘Karana Janmam’, incarnated for a special purpose’, the story-line for the evening had the sum and substance of the most blessed life of the most illustrious mother ever. Touching upon various events preceding to the Advent Of The Supreme Divine the narration went on with stories galore, including that involving Bhagawan’s foster mother Karnam Subbamma. The presentation helped to highlight the rare spaks of the exemplary life of the ‘compassionate mother’ that brought succour to many suffering souls.

With a mix of apt and beautiful renderings coupled with narrations full of Truth and Wisdom, spiced up with brilliant touch of humour, the evening presentation turned out to be a freshening ‘treat for the soul’, reliving the nostalgic past of the blessed lives of ‘twin mothers’ and their ‘Bundle Of Joy’… Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai. The programme lasted an hour and more and ended with a chanting of ‘Easwaramma Gayathri’. The trio, who are into their maiden Burra Katha venture, and group were greeted with continuous round of applause in appreciation.

Bhajans continued and ended with ‘Sunday Special’ in the Divine Voice “Pibare Rama Rasam…”  Mangala Arathi at 1828 hrs. marked the end of the evening’s proceedings.
