April 24, 2010 – Belated Tamil New Year
Celebrations More
Update - (radiosai.org)
The 14th of April
is traditionally celebrated as the Tamil New Year's Day and
Tamil-speaking devotees from the state of Tamil Nadu and elsewhere
arrive in large numbers to Swami's presence on this day. In 2010
however, Swami was blessing the devotees far North in Delhi and
Simla during the same period.
Hence, belated
celebrations were in order and once again devotees from Tamil Nadu
thronged the holy hamlet to celebrate the beginning of their New
Year with Him. It just went on to prove that for the devotee, all
the festivals and holy days are just excuses to be in the Divine
Presence. Any day becomes special when spent with Swami. As part of
their belated celebrations, a concert or kachcheri as it is
known in South India had been arranged. The special thing about this
concert was that it was going to be performed by children in the age
group 9-14!
Everything was set and at
a few minutes after 6 p.m., Swami arrived for darshan. A
huge hanging proclaimed the Tamil New Year and Swami passed
underneath it in the ladies' side. Then passing through the students
and the gents, Swami arrived to the front. Taking a round of the
portico, He arrived on stage. As soon as He came, He heard the Veda
chanting for a while and then calling one student, asked him to
begin bhajans.
When the student clarified, Swami asked for the concert to begin.
And so the children moved up to the stage, one by one, and Swami
accepted roses from all of them granting them the chance to take
padanamaskar. As the lad began to sing with the accompaniment
of the mridangam, ghatam, violin, kanjira and the tanpura, Swami sat
engrossed reading the pile of letters in His hand.
Swami appeared like
someone who wanted to get done with all the official work before
sitting back, relaxing and enjoying a beautiful evening. It was with
great speed, purpose and focus that Swami went through His daily
mail! Having done that, He handed over the letters to one of the
students by His side and then sat back, enjoying the concert. He was
particularly amused by the little boy playing the ghatam. He was
playing it with great effort and passion, but the sound emanating
was a bit feeble.
Swami smiled and looking at a student in the front said, "That boy's
fingers are so tiny. To top that he has not worn any bracket or ring
on the fingers that enhance the sound!" Swami was on the verge of
bursting out laughing at the sweetness of the tiny one's focus and
passion. Everyone around too was enjoying this beautiful scene and
smiling with Swami. Indeed blessed was the boy for He was a source
of such happiness to God at the physical level.
"Rama nannu brovara" and
other Thyagaraja kirtans followed in quick succession and Swami
began to rhythmically keep beat with all the songs. There was a
jugalbandi too between the mridangam and the ghatam at the end of
which the boy began to throw the ghatam up in the air like the
professionals do. At this point Swami burst out laughing and told
the boy that He was very impressed and he need not throw the ghatam!
The joy for the Lord was such that He asked for clothes to be
brought immediately and in between the concert itself, He presented
clothes to all the participants, calling them one by one to the
stage. After the distribution, He told them to continue. One song
later, He asked for the violinist to play a solo bhajan.
The solo was played but it was not a bhajan. It pleased Him
a lot however. The next was the bhajan, "Eswaramba Priya
Nandana" and the whole audience joined whole-heartedly in singing
it. Swami was so moved and very happy.
He asked for the
students to sing a couple of bhajans. Then, He blessed
prasadam to be distributed to all. As the aarthi was
taken, He called all the children to Him and placed His blessing
hand on all of their heads. He asked them who their Guru was and
then told them that they should all get together and practice with
unity and harmony.
One of the boys who gave a rose to Swami, confided a personal
problem for which Swami gave him vibhuti packets as prasadam.
And then, Swami gave Vibhuti packets to all those around him.
Leaving behind smiles and joy, Swami retired to Yajur Mandir at
about 7:30 p.m.
This morning, Bhagawan, upon emerging at 0954 hrs., came for a full
round of darshan. Upon completing the round, Bhagawan came onstage
at 1005 hrs. to sit through the next half-an-hour presiding over
bhajan session. Arathi was offered at 1030 hrs. after which Bhagawan
retired to Yajur Mandiram.
In the evening,
Bhagawan emerged at 1705 hrs. to come for a full round of darshan.
Upon ascending the verandah, Bhagawan went straight into the
interview room. Emerging again at 1750 hrs., Bhagwan glided past the
upper portico to come onstage through the right of Ganesha at 1800
hrs. Bhagawan sat through the rest of the bhajan session that
concluded with Mangala Arathi at 1815 hrs. Upon accepting Arathi,

Shimla finally had her hunger satiated!
After 35 long years of waiting, when Bhagawan's plane
landed at the Shimla Airport just after 11:30, it was a
dream come true for many and for the hill station, it
was her destined and defined moment, for the sanctifying
touch of her Beloved Lord. Entire stretch of thirty five
kilometres, from the Shimla Airport to the newly built "Anand
Vilas", the Divine Abode in Shimla, thousands upon
thousands on the road satiating their lives desire,
stealing a glance of the Lord. There was a riot of
colours all along, with flowers and buntings welcoming
the Lord all over, with rangoli adorning the floor at
every every important locations and thousands upon
thousands vying for a glance lined up all along the way.
There were devotees showering flowers, dusting the
ground that touched the "Feet of The Lord", falling at
Him in sasthtanga posture, many with moist

beaming faces of having satiated their hunger to have
Him in their midst, yet again. It appeared as if entire

memorable one.
This is the 'final' morning before

School of Girls situated at Kalkajee Extn. Area in South

incidents from the illustrious life of Little Sathya.
Some of the incidents were that of the episode related
to Hanuman and Rishyendramani. The programme presented

and Bhagawan was seen 'absorbed' in the presentation.
After the programme that lasted beyond 12 noon, Bhagawan
and His entourage had lunch at the School after which
Bhagawan proceeded to a devotees' residence.
Today is the Tamil New Year Day. Tamil New Year coupled
with Malayalam New Year (Vishu) used to be a celebration
for devotees from Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the Divine
presence over the past many years, be it in Prasanthi
Nilayam, Brindavan or in Kodaikanal. This is perhaps for
the first time in many years that these twin new years
are not celebrated in the immediate physical presence of
Bhagawan.
In the evening
it was beyond 7, precisely at 7:25, when Bhagawan came
out granting the penultimate Darshan before leaving for
Shimla tomorrow morning. As bhajans went on, Bhagawan
moved down the ramp going amidst the devotees through
the pathway, accepting letters from almost every
stretched hand. He even chose to halt for a while at the
mini-podium among the devotees granting coveted view of

Naik.
Bhagawan is expected to leave for Shimla by air tomorrow
morning.
...And in Parthi, it was raining late in the evening,
with intermittent accompaniment of lightning and
thunder, as if she is rejoicing at His imminent return.
Today is Baisakhi! For people in North India, especially
the Sikhs, Baisakhi is a mega event; it is a religious
festival, harvest festival and New Year's Day, all
rolled into one. And when Bhagawan Himself is in their
midst in physical, in North India, the occasion becomes
a real celebrations for the folks devoted to Bhagawan.
As Bhagawan’s Delhi sojourn turns to Day 5, on Tuesday
morning, Bhagawan was ushered in at 11:40 to come
onstage presiding over the bhajans at the Sri Sathya Sai
International Centre. Being the Baisakhi day, prasadam w

followed in Delhi, and the “Prasadam” was sanctified and
blessed by Bhagawan. Clothes were also distributed to
the public marking auspiciousness of the occasion.
Blessing the assemblage of devotees, Bhagawan moved down
the ramp proceeding further through the aisle; after
finishing half-way into the aisle, Bhagawan returned to
the dais.
He knows the deserved one, He knows the right timing and
He knows how to act…. As bhajans went on, Bhagawan,
while onstage, spotted a mentally challenged child and
asked the sevadal to go and give vibhuti prasadam to the
child. Completely conquered by the Power of Divine Love
exhibited by Bhagawan, the child’s mother was in tears
as her joy knew no bounds. None would know what prayer
the child or the mother would have sent forth to the
Divine making them eligible for His Divine intervention
that was so soothing and comforting, not alone to the
suffering soul, but to the audience who were fortunate
to witness the Divine benevolence.
Bhajans continued till 12:30 when
Arathi was offered. Upon accepting Arathi, Bhagawan
proceeded to Rajeev Mahajan’s (a senior devotee from
Delhi) residence for lunch. He was later accompanied by
