"This is the mango season and Swami would always distribute mangoes in abundance to the students. We have one such conversation with Swami in the verandah in June 1997. "

GIVE THE MANGOES TO THE STUDENTS...

Swami in the Prasanthi Nilayam verandah

June 27, 1997

As soon as Swami came out of the interview room, He went up to the Ganesh portico and called some students for getting mangoes from Poornachandra Auditorium. Around 200 women students from different parts of Andhra Pradesh had come for Darshan today. They all had participated in a special summer course programme held in Hyderabad. At the end of the summer course, they all had come to Prasanthi Nilayam. Swami gave them Padanamaskar, Vibhuti Prasadam, and also mangoes.

After the interview, Swami noticed that there were still some mangoes left in the baskets. He beckoned a few doctors and asked them to distribute the mangoes to all the doctors and guests. After finishing distribution, one of the doctors took one for himself and kept back the remaining mangoes. Noticing this Swami remarked…

Swami: Selfish… Selfish… Distribute the mangoes to boys.

Immediately, the doctor took back the mangoes and started distributing them to students. As he was carrying the mangoes, Swami looked at him and commented mischievously…

Swami: Big belly, big belly… do some work… do some work

(To a student) Where do you come from, boy?

Student: Calicut, Swami.

Swami: Oh! Kerala?

Student: Swami, Calicut.

Swami: Kerala… Aa Calicut. I know. I had come there.

Student: Please come to Kerala, Swami.

Swami: Yes, I will come there. I had come there. I had been to Palghat and stayed at Dr. Menon’s house.

Student: Yes, Swami.

Swami: In Srisailam, there is Swami’s school. Do you know?

Student: Yes, Swami… My father is the Director of that school.

Swami: I know… I know. How many students are there in that school?

Student: (With hesitation) Around 600 to 700, Swami.

Swami: No there are 900 students. Is it co-education school?

Student: Yes, Swami.

Swami: How do you know? Dunnapotha? There is no co-education… it is only boys’ school.
